I have a passion for connecting with each student and bringing out their best performance, no matter their experience or skill level. My #1 priority is vocal health, which can be applied to any genre: classical, musical theater, pop, or jazz. My style is energetic, positive, supportive and encouraging. I believe anyone can learn to sing, and that it is our birthright as humans to do so. With a solid technical background in healthy voice pedagogy, I can also help you improve your speaking voice, whether to increase stamina, or to develop a speaking style that better reflects who you are. A certified music teacher with a BA from Harvard, a Master’s degree from Boston Conservatory, and 15 years’ experience in the classroom, I can also help you develop your musicianship skills: ear training, music reading and improvisation. I also have a passion for improvisation, which developed after working with Bobby McFerrin and his talented faculty, including Rhiannon and Judi Vinar, in 2019 and continues to this day. I am passionate about the musical and social possibilities presented in improvisation. Imagine: making up beautiful music in the moment, all by yourself or with a group of other musicians. It is a magical experience that fuses music, spirit and community in a positive, beautiful, impactful way. I have studied voice with Craig Wich (Boston Conservatory), Maitland Peters (Manhattan School of Music), Judi Vinar (Gimme 5) and improvisation with Bobby McFerrin and Rhiannon (Voicestra, WeBe3, Gimme 5). I spent the first 20 years of my professional life singing in all kinds of settings: musical theater, pop a cappella, classical choirs, and bands big and small in Boston, NY and Europe.
